Open house for Hwy 14 improvement options in New Ulm April 29
Concepts include bridges, Hwy 14/15/CR 21 intersections and area near Broadway

MANKATO, Minn. – The public is encouraged to attend an open house to review and make comments on the early concepts of improvements for Highway 14 in New Ulm from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the State Street Theater (District 88 Admin Building), Door #7, 1 N. State Street on Wednesday, April 29.

A local task force has been meeting with MnDOT officials to examine Highway 14 and how it can serve New Ulm into the future.  Areas of focus include the Highway 14/15/CR 21 intersection, bridges over Front Street and the Minnesota River and the remaining three blocks to Broadway.

Safety, projected traffic and population, and economic growth have been key factors for the task force that will be asked to make recommendations to MnDOT at the end of May.

Currently the two bridges over Front Street and the Minnesota River are funded for replacement in 2018.  MnDOT has also received $700,000 in Corridors of Commerce funding to design a new intersection at Highway 14/15 that will align with the new bridges.  The challenge for the task force is to look at the entire system and determine what is best for the future of New Ulm given the funding available today.

MnDOT and task force representatives will be on hand to listen to comments from the public.
