Detour Map

MANKATO, Minn. – Construction of the four-lane expansion of Highway 14 from west of Nicollet to North Mankato will begin July 6 and result in a detour for Nicollet County Road 23.

The project, which includes building 6.5 miles of two additional lanes north of existing Highway 14 and a 2.5 mile four-lane southern bypass of Nicollet with an interchange for Highway 111/CR 23, will be staged for traffic with three detours between July 6 and fall of 2016.

July 6, 2015 – summer 2016
County Road 23 one-half mile south of Nicollet is the site of the new interchange for an extended Highway 111 and the new Highway 14 bypass. A detour of County Road 23 to Nicollet County Road 25 will be necessary from July 6 until late summer 2016 as the contractors build a bridge and grade new alignment.

August 10 – September 2015
Highway 14 from the city of Nicollet to Nicollet County Road 13 in North Mankato will be detoured to Highway 99 and Nicollet County Road 13 beginning August 10 for about two months for crews to replace a culvert under existing Highway 14.

Late summer – fall 2016
In 2016 Highway 14 will be detoured to County Road 25 and Highway 111 traffic accessing Highway 14 will use Highway 99 and Nicollet County Road 17.  This two month detour is needed to build the connections from existing Highway 14 to the new alignment of the southern bypass of Nicollet.

Motorists are advised to watch for trucks entering and leaving the roadway in the entire project area as the contractors will be working 12-hour days for 5-6 days a week all along the corridor with heavy equipment.

Mathiowetz Construction Company of Sleepy Eye is the contractor on the $31 million Corridors of Commerce project.  Information about Highway 14 can be found at www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/14newulmtonmankato/<http://www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/14newulmtonmankato/> as well a way to get e-mail updates as the project progresses.
